I'm happy to welcome Juhi Patel, Ph.D., to the team as a Product Engineer researching processing-packaging interactions for our latest Tech Eval.  She'll be supporting PTR by leveraging her insights of food packaging formats and materials as well as thermal & non-thermal food processing to extend food shelf life.This expertise and understanding allows us to offer clients an in-depth view of processing and packaging interactions. Yes, a lot (seal
strength, tensile strength, oxygen, and water vapor) happens to packaging when food is thermally and non-thermally processed in the package and when food is in contact with packaging for the product shelf life.  It is about making sure your packaged food is safe, secure, and still meet consumer needs. If you are interested in the impacts of thermal and non-thermal processing on packaging, let's connect.

I am thrilled to be involved in the virtual panel on February 24-25, 2021, for the Engineering the Elimination of End-of-Life Plastics (E3P) topic of the Engineering Directorate's Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) Program.

It was wonderful to explore LCAs and consumer views of more sustainable packaging in a recent Beef Check-off funded project via the AURI team and with Virpi Korhonen and Ziynet Boz. Packaging drives a more sustainable meat industry.
